The Magnet is made from 500 million year old slate from Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales.
It is cored then individually split using a hammer and chisel.

It has a fabric backing to protect the surface it rests on.

Is approximately 6.5cm or 2 and a half inches in diameter and approx 2mm thick.

History
The quarying of slate has been a feature of life in the mountanous regions of north Wales.
Whole communities sprang up around the slate quarries and generations of families have worked the quarries in towns such as Bethesda and Blaenau Ffestiniog.
