The clock is made from 500 million year old slate from Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales.
It is cored then individually split using a hammer and chisel.

History
The quarying of slate has been a feature of life in the mountanous regions of north Wales.
Whole communities sprang up around the slate quarries and generations of families have worked the quarries in towns such as Bethesda and Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Now you can have a gift in slate as a piece of the Welsh mountanside hand-crafted using traditional techniques to split the stone into narrow slices
